Book Review: The Power of Your Subconscious Mind

'The Power of Your Subconscious Mind' by Dr. Joseph Murphy.

"A magnetized piece of steel will lift about twelve times its own weight, and if you demagnetize the same piece of steel, it will not even lift a feather. Similarly there are two types of men."
I never believed in self-help books. So naturally I was pretty apprehensive about this book which my brother said was an international bestseller.

But I was hooked into the book the moment I read the following line-
"...the creative intelligence which made all my organs, fashioned my body, and started my heart, could heal its own handiwork. The doctor dresses the wound and God heals it."

This book talks about how you and I can be the master of our selves through the power of our subconscious. To believe is to be real. The law of life is the law of belief and belief could be summed up briefly as a thought in our mind. As a man thinks, feels and believes, so is the condition of his mind, body and circumstances. The law of your mind is the law of belief. This means that to believe in your mind is to believe in belief itself. All of our experiences,  events, conditions,  and acts are the reactions of our subconscious mind to our thoughts. While I found this too much to take in, I soon had to agree that every thought is actually a CAUSE and every condition is an EFFECT. Which is why we have to take charge of our thoughts. Just as the captain is the master of a ship and how his decrees are carried out, likewise your conscious mind is the captain and master of your ship. Your ship can be your body or your environment or all affairs. Whereas your subconscious mind takes the orders you give it based upon what your conscious mind accepts and believes is true. Our subconscious mind accepts whatever is impressed upon it or what you consciously believe.

The fact that I found interesting in this issue addressed through the book is the power of suggestion. Once an idea is planted in the head (conscious) nothing can erase it from the subconscious. And if the subconscious really is the ultimate power house of our human existence the what is our limit? As such we are using only ten per cent of our brain capacity to date. What if we can unleash more?

The potential of the book is massive because of the issue discussed by it. And because we will never truly know the power of our subconscious mind.

Maybe that's how it's meant to be.
So let it be written.
So let it be done.
